The NARCA Model Contract
was created to provide sample terms for client representation. Recently,
members have requested a simpler document more appropriate for smaller
clients that would be forwarding only a few matters for collection.
The NARCA Board of Directors has approved two Standard Letters of
Agreement that set out common terms: one letter provides that the
client advances costs, the other that the law firm advances costs.
Developed
by the Member Services Committee, each represents a synthesis of
letters used by a number of member firms, and covers the "basics"
of representation.
As with the Model Contract,
the Letters must be customized for the user's state, and are NOT
intended for use "as is". State laws, court or Bar rules
may govern language that must appear in contingent fee contracts.
